Hometown Humanities

Literature and history help us understand life. The stories move us, make us, unite us, and inspire us. It's really that simple. And it's our job to make sure more of these purposeful stories are being shared and preserved.

Last year, 788 humanities events took place in Kansas hometowns. Your hometown. These events promoted civic engagement and civility while engaging Kansans with good books, local history, and cultural heritage. More are waiting to happen. Will you help?

Your donation to the Kansas Humanities Council supports HOMETOWN HUMANITIES -- humanities events that happen right where you are.

  • $50 supports Kansans as they read the world through Talk About Literature in Kansas
  • $150 helps connect Kansans with history and culture through the Speakers Bureau
  • $300 provides emerging writers with the chance to participate in a community writing workshop to explore William Allen White's plea for freedom of speech
  • $500 brings the Smithsonian Institution to Kansas kids and families

The Kansas Humanities Council is $2,000 away from meeting a $15,000 challenge from the KHC Board of Directors for our annual fall fundraising campaign. Your #GivingTuesday gift keeps the humanities thriving in Kansas through the power of stories now and in 2017.

The Kansas Humanities Council is a nonprofit organization. Gifts to KHC are tax-deductible according to law.
